Hallo Gen,

I just looked back at this email thread and realized I never responded to your request to use what I wrote about our savings pool game experience in your teaching doc. By all means, please do so! Of course, that leaves me very curious what type of teaching doc you're putting together, is it something explicitly around savings pools?

Hi Zev,

that was an awesome  analysis of your savings pool game... would you mind if I used it in a teaching doc?

Glad you played it & had that experience!

Dangit! I was fooled by the time zones. I just tried to get on. I can't get on at the actual start time in an hour.

As reports on my commitments: 1) I am continuing to organize the WNC mutual aid summit; 2) I successfully got the savings pool game un-zipped (not a trivial task), printed it and cut it up into the cards, and played it with a group of 25 people at our first Mutual Aid Learning Circle this past Sunday afternoon!

It was very interesting and provocative, really giving a taste of what relational instead of just transactional economics can feel like. For example, at one point a participant who was playing the role of a single elderly person living on a fixed income in a rent-controlled apartment, and who learned that they now had an additional incoming healthcare expense of $300/month, was offered to come live in the spare bedroom of another member of the savings pool, thereby saving $400 rent/month which could cover the additional healthcare expense. So the savings pool creates a mentorship/creative problem solving environment by helping everyone be vulnerable through the lens of transparent finances, thereby opening ourselves to more holistic opportunities that we typically don't know about due to our financial silo-ing.  facilitated creative thinking and problem solving for the participants via the financial transparency of the savings pool format.

Glad to report on that more in detail to folks who are interested.
